Privacy notice

If you join the waitlist, Helen collects your email address, consent choices, and attribution attached to your visit. If you follow or share a referral link, we also record its code, the relationship between waitlist entries, and first-party sharing events. After verifying your email, you may choose to provide an age band, gender, and the genders you would like to meet with explicit consent. We use these details to manage the waitlist, measure referrals, send updates, and prevent abuse. Advertising measurement occurs only when you allow it.

Helen accounts

If you create an account, Helen uses your email and an identity provider to verify your sign-in. We collect your date of birth to check eligibility and calculate the age shown on your profile; your date of birth stays private. You can add a display name, gender, broad location, profile details, interests, photos, discovery preferences, and compatibility answers. Helen records your account choices, likes, matches, messages, and safety actions to operate the service. Profile details you choose to make visible may be shown to other members. We use these records to provide discovery and messaging, respect your privacy choices, and review safety concerns.

Advertising measurement

Google, Meta, Reddit and Pinterest measurement scripts may run on public pages. These providers may set cookies and receive browser and campaign identifiers. After a successful waitlist or account signup, Helen may send the normalized email address you supplied to Reddit's browser advanced matching and send the accepted signup lead to advertising providers for conversion measurement. Helen does not send your age band, gender, dating preferences, compatibility answers, messages, or precise location to browser advertising tools.

Member safety and location signals

When you create or use a Helen account, we may record your network IP address and an approximate country, region, and city supplied by our web security provider. This can happen during account creation, when you request or complete a password reset, when you open the site, and as you continue using it, including after a network or VPN change. We compare repeated network locations with the broad area you choose for your profile to identify accounts that may need a safety review. IP location is approximate and can be affected by travel, VPNs, and mobile networks. A location signal does not automatically change your account or profile location. Access to these records is restricted to authorised staff, and we do not send them to advertising platforms. Encrypted IP observations are kept for up to 30 days; review signals and access records are kept for up to 90 days. Account deletion removes the linked observations and signals.

Helen emails may include a small image and tracked links. Opening an email or following a link can record the requesting network's IP address and approximate location, marked as an email open or email click. Mail apps and security services may make these requests on your behalf, so Helen does not use email locations alone to flag an account for fraud. These observations are kept with the same restricted location records and deleted after up to 30 days. Deleting a waitlist entry removes its linked email observations.

Your choices

Waitlist emails include links to unsubscribe while keeping your place or to delete your waitlist entry. Deleting an entry removes its referral code, relationships, and sharing events. Members can manage profile visibility and delete their account in account settings. Account deletion immediately disables the identity and starts deletion or redaction of profile, contact, message, and media records; limited safety or legal records may be retained under the retention policy. Storage and access

Helen's production application and database run in Google Cloud's us-central1 region in the United States. Email delivery uses Amazon SES in us-east-1. Access is restricted to people who need it to operate and secure Helen. Profile photos are held in private storage and are not shown to other members until approved.
